Punkie and Rogue – Fireside Meanderings : jibba-jabba : Conventions (the good ol’ days) [little under 38 minutes]
by admin on Feb.28, 2011, under Punkie and Rogue – Fireside Meanderings, Rogue's Podcast of Iniquity and Ill Fitting Trousers
This week, Punkie and Rogue reminisce about the sci fi and fantasy conventions they’ve attended throughout the years.
This is a series that we’re going to try to put out weekly, if not twice a month. God only knows if we’ll keep up the schedule, but it should be fun trying to find out.
Enjoy!
Intro and Outro music on the podcast is Shanghai Reggae (DJ Side’s Alternate Take) by Karaoke Mouse – the collective work of MMtm and Karaoke Tundra

Constellation, Worldcon in Baltimore 1983, was at the Baltimore Hyatt and Baltimore Convention Center (where Otakon is currently held). According to reviews I have scanned from old fanzines, it was considered by many to be “the worst Worldcon in history up to that point.” It went $40,000 into the red, being one of the largest financial losses in memory, and as a result Baltimore was a “dirty word” until they won the bid again in 1996 for the 1998 Bucconeer Worldcon, where I was a guest.
We barely scraped the surface of fandom.
