James “Flip” Brown
by admin on Jun.24, 2009, under Uncategorized
Today – after a bus FINALLY stopped for me on K street, I ran into this 80 year old man named James “FLIP” Brown. A lady got up to offer him her seat, but he just smiled and said that he was going to be participating in a Latin dance festival this weekend, and that he needed to get used to being on his feet for it. He’s apparently been performing for years in DC – was born and raised here and has lived her all his life. He was born at the same hospital me and my mother were – small world. He was very gregarious, had a great smile and an awesome personality – he didn’t look a day over 60. Seriously. He had that little mischevious twinkle in his eye that only children of Eleggua seem to have.
At some point in our conversation, he handed me a business card that had his name and the following professions: ‘Comedian, Dancer, Gymnastic Instructor, Acrobatic Performer’ listed on it.
How utterly cool.
You go, James “FLIP” Brown. Hardest working man in D.C.
